75 Years Experience
It all started very differently. As early as 1933, Theodor Klaas, father of current owner Ludger Klaas, his company in Werne. As a building contractor, he built mainly large buildings such as schools and churches - and thought at this stage not to elevators or cranes. However, he quickly became acquainted with the everyday problems in construction. With this experience and a lot of new ideas developed Klaas after the end of World War II, the first-Klaas hoists and produced them at first with success in small series. The employer moved its headquarters from Werne, 17 kilometers away in the mountain ash, in order to expand further. The entry of the Son of Ludger into the company in 1969 brought an additional surge in development. A milestone in the history of the company began developing the first aluminum crane. Initially, the trained electrician and locksmith Ludger Klaas was ridiculed because of the airy flying weight of aluminum, but in 1993, the international engineering company succeeded with the new invention of a breakthrough.
And the resourceful developers were not out of ideas. So he started back in 2000 a new project. In collaboration with Iveco Magirus of Ulm, he developed a combination fire department unit that can benefit both the deletion and in the rescue of persons to use. Already in 2003, was the first - to be delivered - then under the current name Octopus device.
Their innovative products ready for the machine builders today, especially roofers, removal companies, carpentry companies and fire departments. Seven different models of aluminum crane superstructure is built, the company Klaas depending on requirements of customers to smaller trucks up to 7.5 tonnes and 12-ton truck or trailer chassis. The same applies to the roofing and furniture elevators, which are constructed according to the individual needs of customers and reach a height of up to 64 meters. Today, both businesses are run as separate companies: the aluminum Klaas Klaas GmbH and crane hoists GmbH & Co. KG. In addition, since 2005, has the third division in the form of Klaas established Service and Distribution Company, which includes the repair of the rental and sale of cranes.
